Purpose
IAJ is a secular student organization that aims to raise awareness and coordinate effective response to local, national, and global issues of social, economic and political justice. The Alliance engages in informational outreach activities as well as advocacy and discourse. This club intends to both provide a way for students interested in the Muslim world to become active in the political realm, and to raise awareness of issues of injustice across campus and around the globe.

In the past, IAJ has worked to help bring several eminent speakers to Cornell University including: Jon Esposito, professor at Georgetown University to talk about the future of Islam and Muslim-West relations; Ahmed Younis, national director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council; Merve Kavakci, a Turkish politician who was thrown out of the secular Turkish parliament because she wore a hijab; James Yee, former Muslim Chaplain at Guantanamo Bay; Hamida Ghafour, an Afghani journalist discussing her time reporting after September 11th; and Amir Sulaiman, a Muslim spoken word poet who incorporates Islam and struggle into his freestyles and poetry.

The Alliance continues to create a diverse platform upon which students can freely engage in dialogue and exchange ideas.
